Dr Mani Bhogal is an award-winning consultant ophthalmologist based in London, who specialises in cataracts, corneal transplantation, and retinal surgery, as well as implantable collamer lens (ICL), keratoconus, and aphakia. Dr Bhogal’s NHS base is Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, and he practises privately for The London Clinic at the world-famous Harley Street in central London.

Dr Bhogal graduated first in his year for Medicine from the University of London in 2005, and his further training included time at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, and Singapore National Eye Centre, before becoming a consultant ophthalmic surgeon in London. He is the only UK ophthalmologist to have undertaken fellowship training in both retinal and corneal surgery at Moorfields eye hospital, and uses this unique skill set to treat patients with complex eye problems. Along with cataract and ICL surgery, Dr Bhogal is expert in multifocal lens surgery, and surgeries for diseases of the cornea.

Dr Bhogal has received a range of awards for his published research in ophthalmology; while his pioneering work has led to the development of new methods and techniques in corneal transplantation, many of which have been adopted in the UK and internationally.

Dr Bhogal is a global leader in Descemet’s membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) corneal transplantation. He is a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He performs over 500 cataract and refractive procedures every year, and prides himself in his comprehensive assessments for patients (during which he takes the time to explain things clearly), and his calm demeanour during surgery.
