Glaucoma is a common eye condition that is caused by damage to the optic nerve. The optic nerves connect the eyes to the brain; any increase in pressure in the eyeball can impair the optic nerve which, if left untreated, can lead to vision loss. Glaucoma usually occurs in both eyes, to varying degrees.
At Eye Health Clinic Bermuda, our dedicated team of professionals will guide you through every step of the glaucoma treatment process and provide personalised attention and support to ensure the best possible outcomes. We are committed to helping you maintain your vision and protect your eye health.

Diagnosis and Care
Glaucoma is caused by an increase in the build-up of fluid inside the eye, caused by a malfunctioning of the eye’s drainage system (the trabecular meshwork). This increase in pressure damages the optic nerve. The main symptoms are eye pain, blurred or tunnel vision, blind spots in either central or peripheral vision, and seeing haloes or colourful rings around lights.
As part of our comprehensive eye care services, we offer routine eye examinations that enable us to detect and monitor the progression of glaucoma early on. Early detection plays a crucial role in preventing further damage to your vision and maintaining your eye health. Our skilled professionals use advanced diagnostic techniques to accurately diagnose glaucoma and recommend the most effective treatment options for your individual needs.
Treatment Options
At Eye Health Clinic Bermuda, we offer advanced treatment options for glaucoma, such as minimally invasive glaucoma devices (Baerveldt or Ahmed drainage devices) and selective laser trabeculoplasty.
Minimally invasive glaucoma devices are implanted into the eye to aid drainage and reduce pressure, while selective laser trabeculoplasty is a painless surgery that uses an argon laser to improve the eye’s drainage system.
