Dr Jake Smith is a general ophthalmologist who has worked in Bermuda since 2018. Jake has worked as part of a small team to provide comprehensive ophthalmic care since he completed his training.
Dr Smith has extensive surgical experience in glaucoma and cataract procedures, as well as pterygium, trauma and emergency surgeries and eye care. He is passionate about providing high-end eye care to island communities.
Dr Smith has performed thousands of glaucoma laser procedures and surgeries, as well as over 5000 cataract phacoemulsification and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation surgeries.

Dr Smith’s goal for the Eye Health Clinic in Bermuda is to live up to his exacting, professional standards, but also provide a base for sub-specialist oculoplastic aesthetic, cornea and retina treatments that many patients have had to seek overseas care for previously.

Jake is an alumnus of Oxford University, Sandhurst Royal Military Academy, Cambridge Medical School, and Moorfields Eye Hospital. He undertook prestigious glaucoma fellowships at King’s College and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London, and Geneva University Hospitals, Switzerland. Jake is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, and a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He is fluent in French, and competent in Spanish and German.
